Do you have unfinished dreams of becoming a professional soccer player? Time to break out the indoor shoes and shin guards - the Wichita Wings are offering an opportunity of a lifetime for any players seeking the chance to join the team. The Wichita Wings will hold open tryouts July 14-15, 2012. Only a select number of players will be asked to attend the second day of tryouts, with no individual being guaranteed a spot in the second day of tryouts. Selected finalists of the two-day tryout will be invited into training camp prior to the beginning of the Wings 2012-2013 season. Tryouts will be held at Hartman Arena (8151 North Hartman Arena Drive, Park City, Kansas 67147). Start time for the tryouts will begin at 9am (CST) and may run until approximately 4pm (with the time frame format being dependent on the number of individuals trying out).
Five current Wings players, Nic Martinez, Chris Lemons, Kevin Ten Eyck, Alex Moseley, and Danny Villegas, worked their way through last year’s open tryouts to secure a spot on the Wings roster. “Without the open tryouts last year, I probably wouldn’t be playing professional soccer right now. This is a great opportunity to showcase your talent. Anything can happen,” said Ten Eyck about his tryout experience. Ten Eyck was named Rookie of the Year for the Wings and made the MISL All-Rookie team.
The cost for the tryout will be $100 with pre-registration. The tryout fee for day of registrants will be $125. Tryout participants will be responsible for ALL airfare, hotel, food and transportation. Individuals should pre-register by calling the Wichita Wings Front Office at (316) 440-5044. Payment will only be accepted July 14th at check-in (starting at 8:30am). Payment will only be accepted in the form of cash, credit card, or cashier’s check. The tryouts will be open to the public.
