Wichita Wings Youth Soccer Camp

The Wichita Wings Organization would like to offer all boys and girls ages 7-15 an exciting opportunity to attend the Wichita Wings Youth Soccer Camps. The kids will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to receive personalized instruction from Wichita Wings players, coaches, and other highly qualified instructors. Camp Directors include:

LeBaron Hollimon – Head Coach of the Wichita Wings and former Wichita Wings player, 10 years of professional playing experience

Sammy Lane – Current Assistant Coach of the Wichita Wings, Current Head Coach at Hutchinson Community College, four time Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year.

Player Coaches - Chris Lemons, Kevin Ten Eyck, Alex Moseley, Bryan Perez, Jamie Harding, Brian Cushing, Larry Inlow, and other qualified coaches if needed.

The camp is designed to meet the needs of every camper by teaching them the techniques of soccer and to teach them the key tactical components needed to be successful. The camp operates from a curriculum that challenges each player to reach their full potential in a fun environment, yet an environment that guides them with mentally and physically challenging activities. Our camp emphasis centers around two vital aspects of player development:

We want to raise the technical abilities of players so that the players can be more creative with the ball and play better under match conditions.
We will work with each player to improve tactical awareness and understanding.

We will be offering several sessions of our camp throughout the months of June and July located around the cities of Wichita and Newton. All camps will last 5 days, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The tuition of each camp is $125. Camp dates are:

June 4-8 AYSO West Complex (13th & Ridge Rd)
June 11-15 SCSA Complex (47th South & Meridian)
June 18-22 AYSO West Complex (13th & Ridge Rd)

Wings Re-sign Three Standouts

Carvalho, Beasley, Quiroz to Re-join Wichita in 2012-2013 Season

WICHITA, KS. – The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) are pleased to announce the re-signing of three stalwarts from the 2011-2012 season. Pending League approval, Sanaldo Carvalho, Jamar Beasley, and Victor Quiroz will re-join the Wings for the upcoming 2012-2013 season. All three players played vital roles in the success of the Wings inaugural season.

Wings Goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho ended his 2011-2012 campaign with a .689 save percentage allowing 12.08 points per game, 5^th in the league. Forward Jamar Beasley ended the season with 22 goals and 14 assists adding up to 59 points, 9^th overall in the MISL. Beasley was also named Wichita Wings Offensive Player of the Year by his fellow teammates. Wings Defender Victor Quiroz had 38 points off 9 goals and 16 assists on the season while being a mainstay in the Wings backline. Quiroz was named Wichita Wings Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year by his teammates.

Speaking about the significance of re-signing Carvalho, Beasley, and Quiroz, Wings Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon said- “All three of these players were intricate parts of our system last season, and our organization is more than excited to have them on board for the upcoming 2012-13 season. We started building this team from the ground up, and these three men are the type of players we can build a franchise on.”

The Wichita Wings look to build on their first year back to the MISL in over a decade. The three signings are sure to help the team head in the right direction as the Wings look to make a run in the 2012-2013 season and challenge for the MISL Championship.

Season ticket renewals for the upcoming 2012-2013 season will begin on April 2^nd, and season tickets go on sale to the general public June 18^th.

3/2 - 3/4 Weekend Game Preview

The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will travel to the East Coast to play the teams last two games of the 2011-2012 season. The Wings will take on the Baltimore Blast, in Baltimore, on Friday, March 2^nd at 7:35 EST, followed by a game against the Norfolk SharX, in Norfolk, on Sunday, March 4^th at 2:00 EST.

Wichita is coming off its first East Coast road trip of the season, dropping three games in four days. The first two games against the Rochester Lancers and Syracuse Silver Knights saw the Wings fall, both in overtime on 3-point goals. The final game was a defensive battle against Rochester with both teams struggling to find the back of the net. The Lancers ultimately secured a 10-2 win with a long 3-point goal with the Wings sixth attacker deployed on field.

Wichita has played both the Blast and SharX one time this season; both games played out at Hartman Arena in Wichita. Baltimore left Wichita with a 12-6 victory, and the SharX left Wichita with a 17-4 loss. Wichita will look to end their inaugural 2011-2012 season on a respectable high note and hopefully gain wins against two Eastern Division opponents.

Baltimore has already secured a playoff berth and will look to continue their winning form as they head towards the 2012 MISL playoffs. Norfolk has been eliminated from the playoffs, and like the Wings, will be playing for pride.

Wings Drop Final Home game of 2011-2012

Wichita, Kan. – The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) fell short in their final home game of the 2011-2012 season tonight. In front of a sold out crowd of 4,860 the Wichita Wings could not find the back of the net on countless attempts.

The game started off slowly for the Wings going scoreless well into the second quarter. Rochester accumulated 8 unanswered points, two in the first quarter by Doug Miller and Mauricio Salles, and two in the second quarter by Kyle Manscuk and Gary Boughton before Wichita ever found the back of the net.

Wichita finally found the back of the net when Wings Defender Jamie Harding scored an assisted Angel Rivillo two pointer 9:48 into the game. Rochester answered quickly with an unassisted Gary Boughton goal, his second of the evening. With 11:32 left in the second, Wings Midfielder Bryan Perez scored an unassisted two pointer, giving the Wings momentum rolling into the third quarter and putting the team down by only 6.

Energy continued to build for the Wings in the third quarter when rookie Midfielder Kevin Ten Eyck scored a two pointer on a Wichita powerplay, bringing Wichita within 4; down 10-6. However, once again, Rochester quickly responded with a Mauricio Salles three pointer on a Lancers powerplay, assisted by Carlos Farias. The Wings would not be content taking a loss easily, and answered with an unassisted Angle Rivillo two pointer. Going into the fourth quarter, the Wings trailed 13-8.

The Lancers appeared to have the game on lock-down until with 6:18 left to play in the fourth quarter, Wings Forward Jamar Beasley struck gold with an assisted Angel Rivillo two pointer, bringing Wichita within three. With less than 5 minutes to play, Wichita employed their sixth attacker, but attempt after attempt failed as the Wings looked to find the back of the net. Rochester’s Doug Miller did find the back of the net one more time, giving the Lancers three more points and the win with a final score of 16-10.

The Wichita Wings return to action next Thursday, February 23 when they meet once again with the Rochester Lancers in Rochester. 2/18 Wings vs. Lancers Game Preview

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will play host to Eastern Division opponent the Rochester Lancers this Saturday, February 18th in the Wings final home game of the 2011-2012 season. Kick-off is scheduled to start at 7:35pm (CT) playing out of Hartman Arena.

Rochester returns to Wichita for the second meeting between the two teams this season. The first matchup saw the Wings take a back and forth game into overtime, where Wichita triumphed on a sudden death goal by midfielder Bryan Perez; final score 19-17.

Rochester, coming off a 23-9 loss to Syracuse on February 12^th, has playoff hopes on the line as they battle for the second place playoff berth out of the Eastern Division. Rochester, with a record of 8-12, currently holds a half game lead over the Syracuse Silver Knights. Saturday night’s game against Wichita is crucial for the Lancers as playoff implications are on the line with only 4 games remaining on Rochester’s schedule.

The Wings playoff hopes were dashed when Wichita fell to Central Division rivals the Milwaukee Wave in a final score of 6-3 last Friday night. Milwaukee jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, but did not find the back of the net in the second half. The only offense Wichita could garner was a 3-point goal by midfielder Angel Rivillo in the presence of a sixth attacker with less than 5 minutes to play.

Wichita will look to sell out their 4^th game of the season in front of arguably the best and most passionate crowd in the MISL. The Wings have played arguably better at home this season, and will be looking for one final farewell win in the team’s final home game of the 2011-2012 season.

Key Matchup: FWD Marcicio Salles vs MF Jamar Beasley

Salles and Beasley both lead their teams in points scored this season. Salles is currently third in the MISL point’s race, tallying 22 goals and 11 assists for an accumulation of 59 points. Beasley is currently tenth in the MISL point’s race with 20 goals and 10 assists accumulating 51 points. Both players will look to increase their fire power and lead their team to a victory this Saturday night.

2/10 Wings vs. Wave Game Preview

Milwaukee, WI. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will hit the road once again to take on the Milwaukee Wave on Friday, February 10^th. This will be the seventh matchup of the season between the two teams with the Wave carrying a 5-1 lead in the series. Kick-off is scheduled to start at 7:00pm (CT) at the US Cellular Arena in downtown Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Wave are coming off a 22-8 win against Eastern Divisional leaders the Baltimore Blast. Wave Forward Greg Howes lead the team with 7 points followed by Hewerton and Oliviero with 5 points apiece. The Wave currently sit on top of the Central Division and lead the MISL with an overall record of 15-2, securing them home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Wichita Wings are coming off a nail-biting overtime win against Eastern Division opponents the Rochester Lancers. Like many games played by the Wings this season, the game was a back and forth battle with each team taking the lead multiple times throughout the game. Down by two with 9 seconds remaining in regulation, Wings defender Chris Lemons blasted home a game tying goal, giving the Wings some momentum going into overtime. With just minutes lapsed in the overtime period, Wings midfielder Bryan Perez placed home a deflection off the boards to give the Wings the win. That goal, along with his other 5 points in the game, easily nominated Perez to be named MISL Player of the Week.

With the Wings looking to make the playoffs, this is a must-win game. Wichita will most likely need to go 6-1 over their next 7 games to stand a chance of catching second place Central Division rivals the Missouri Comets. The Wings are currently 3 games behind the Comets, but have 2 games in hand and must look to make up some ground to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Keep an Eye on – Angel Rivillo

Rivillo has joined the Wings for the remainder of the season, and looks to be a stellar addition to the team. Rivillo provides attacking power to the offense and is a great facilitator who also brings an ability to score. Against the Lancers, Rivillo provided 2 goals and 2 assists, totaling 5 points, to help ensure the Wings victory.

Wings Win Thriller In Front Of Electrified Crowd

With just 9 seconds left to play in the game, in front of a near sellout crowd of 4,439, Wings Defender Chris Lemons stepped up and made what could be the defining goal of the Wings season. Down 15-17 in the final minutes of play, the Wichita Wings employed a six-attacker as one last chance to keep themselves in the game. Second after second ticked away as the Wings took shot after shot, but nothing seemed destined to get past Rochester Goalkeeper Gavin McInerney. Nothing that is, until Chris Lemons scored an unbelievable goal, igniting the crowd and sending the game into sudden death overtime.

Early in the game, Wings Midfielder Bryan Perez struck first blood with a wicked three point goal off a penalty kick, but former Wings player Carlos Farias responded with a two pointer, followed quickly by another two point goal from Rochester’s Doug Miller. Just before the end of the first quarter, Wichita’s newest addition Angel Rivillo scored a three pointer to put the Wings up 6-4.

The game turned into a balancing act in the second quarter, with both teams fighting to take a commanding lead over the other. The Lancers scored back to back goals from Jeremy Ortiz (two points) and Ljubomir Kocic (three points) to put Rochester back on top, but Wichita responded quickly with another big time three pointer, this time from Wings rookie Daniel Villegas to put the Wings up by one. Just as it seemed that Wichita would enter the half with the lead, Lancer Midfielder Ljubomir Kocic scored another two point goal, giving Rochester an 11-9 lead.

The third quarter continued to teeter back and forth with no team able to take a definite lead. Wings rookie Midfielder Alex Moseley scored the first goal for the Wings, a two pointer just 1:38 into the quarter. Wichita quickly scored another following the Moseley goal, this time from their newest member, Midfielder Angel Rivillo, his second of the evening to put the Wings up 13-11. However just when it appeared Wichita was taking control of the game, Rochester answered with two Andrew Hoxie goals, one at the 4:37 mark and one at the 10:32 mark to put the Lancers back on top 15-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Jamar Beasley scored the first goal of the fourth, but was quickly followed by another Rochester goal from Ljubomir Kocic to put the Lancer up 17-15. It wasn’t until the reaming seconds (9 to be exact) that Chris Lemons scored his epic goal, sending the game into overtime.

Overtime may as well have been written off. Rochester made shot after spectacular shot, but Wings Goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho proved himself once again as one of the most clutch Goalkeepers in the MISL, stoping everything sent his way. Finally, 8:46 into overtime, Wings Midfielder Bryan Perez scored the game winning goal, giving the Wings an epic win with a final score of 19-17.

Post-game, Wings Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon couldn’t have been more pleased with his players’ performance. “It was an incredible game in front of an electrifying crowd. I couldn’t be more proud of the men tonight; they stepped up when the time came and provided a great crowd with a great win.”

The Wichita Wings return to action next Friday when they take on the Milwaukee Wave in Milwaukee before returning home for their final regular season game on February 18^th. Wings Add Late Season Signees

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) have added three late season signees to their roster over the previous weeks.

Kareem Yearwood, Max Touloute, and newest signee Angel Rivillo will join the organization for the remaining 8 regular season games.

Kareem Yearwood, a Sou Sou Lands, Trinidad and Tobago Native, joined the Wings just weeks ago after first spending time on the teams practice squad. A rookie in the MISL, Yearwood played his college soccer at the College of Charleston before spending time with FC Jacksonville Destroyers. Yearwood has joined the Wings in the Midfielder/Forward position.

Max Touloute, a Native to Haiti, was a four-year player for the IPFW Mastodons prior to joining the Wings. Touloute solidified his name in the IPFW history book with 32 goals, 14 assists, 218 shots and five game-winning goals. He competed in 67 career games for the team. In 2011, Touloute was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, while helping IPFW qualify for the league tournament for the first time in program history. In the semifinal round against Oral Roberts, he netted IPFW's first goal nine seconds into the contest. It was the second fastest goal in NCAA history and the quickest in league tournament history.

Angle Rivillo, a Toulouse, France Native, no doubly has the longest resume of the three new signees, and has no short list of accomplishments. Rivillo has won two National Championships in his career; one with the Milwaukee Rampage in 2002 (A-League Champions), and one with the Milwaukee Wave of the MISL in 2005. Angle was also an All-American Scholar Athlete at Creighton University (1999-2000), and winner of the A-League 2002 Goal of the Year Award. Rivillo’s full playing career includes time spent with:

With the addition of three new players for the final eight games of the regular season, Wings Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon has one goal on his mind. “Playoffs. There’s no doubt in my mind that this team is still working hard to be in the playoff hunt. With the loss of Freddy (Moojen, Knee) and other nagging injuries, we will need other guys to step up and fill roles. I firmly believe all three of these men will be great additions to help this team accomplish that goal.”

2/4 Wings vs. Lancers Game Preview

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will take on the Rochester Lancers of the Eastern Division this Saturday, February 4^th. The matchup will be the first between the two teams this season, with kick-off scheduled to start at 7:35pm (CT), playing out of Hartman Arena.

The Wichita-Rochester game is sure to be an intriguing matchup with the return of Carlos “Chile” Farias. Chile was released by the Wichita Wings earlier this season, but will be returning to Hartman Arena under a new jersey, sporting the Rochester colors.

Rochester (8-10) is coming off a weekend doubleheader road trip which they split, one win and one loss. On Saturday, Rochester lost a tough fought battle to Eastern Division leaders the Baltimore Blast, final score 8-7, then turned around and beat the Norfolk SharX 17-8 in their house the following evening. The Lancers currently sit in second place in the Eastern Division, 6 games behind Baltimore, and 2 games in front of Syracuse. They will no doubly be looking for a win this Saturday to help secure what would be the expansion team’s first playoff berth.

Wichita (6-10) is coming off a three-game stretch against Central Division rivals and MISL leaders the Milwaukee Wave. The three-game series saw the Wave escape with a 2-1 record over the Wings. Each of the three games came down to a one goal difference, and both teams employed a 6^th attacker to try and tie or win the respective games. The Wings are currently in third place in the Central Division, 3½ games behind second place Missouri. Although the Wings are by no means out of the playoff hunt, each of their final 8 games will be critical if they wish to make it into post season play.

Key Matchup FWD Carlos “Chile” Farias vs DEF Victor Quiroz

In ten games before being released by the Wings, Chile had compiled 13 assists and 5 goals for a total of 24 points. Since his move to the Lancers, Chile has only 3 goals. Chile will surely look to use his knowledge of the Wings personnel to get his goal scoring prowess back on track. To shut down Chile, the Wings will look to deploy veteran Defender Victor Quiroz. Not only is Victor a defensive stalwart, Quiroz has picked up his scoring ability tremendously this season, accumulating 15 points over the past 3 games. This Saturday, the Wings will look to ride on Victor’s leadership to a victory.

Wings Lose Tough Fought Battle

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) lost a tough fought battle tonight against Central Division opponent the Milwaukee Wave.

With both teams taking away wins in last weekend’s double header, it was apparent in the first quarter that both were out for the win. Milwaukee struck first with a Marcio Leite two pointer (assisted by Marco Terminesi) to put the Wave up 2-0. Wings Forward Jamar Beasley responded with an assisted Alex Moseley goal to tie the game two-a-piece.

Tension began to show between the teams in the second quarter. Wings Defender Brian Cushing scored just 30 seconds in putting the Wings in the lead for the first time, up 4-2. However the lead did not last long. Uncontested goals by Wave players Giuliano Oliveriro, Marcio Leite, and Greg House put the Wave up 10-4 with 5:30 left to play. Aggression arose between Wings Bryan Perez and Milwaukee’s Giuliano Oliveiro and Marco Terminesi as all three were Blue Carded 2 minute penalties for pushing. Victor Quiroz responded for the Wings with a three pointer to put the Wings back into the game, but a final goal in the quarter by Milwaukee’s Jonathan Greenfield silenced the Wichita crowed of 2,538 going into halftime as the Wave lead 12-7.

Apprehension, as well as scoring cooled in the third quarter. Wave Forward Greg Howes scored an unassisted two pointer, followed by a three pointer for Wings Defender Victor Quiroz, his second of the evening. Heading into the fourth quarter, Milwaukee led 14-10.

Whatever peace that remained between the two teams shattered in the final quarter as both fought hard for the win. Milwaukee’s Nicolas Perera scored an unassisted two pointer early in the quarter, but tensions reached a high point at the 7:54 mark. Wings Midfielder Kevin Ten Eyck was handed a Red Card for violent conduct, ejecting him from the game. Following the ejection, Wichita fought hard to regain focus and control of the game. Wings Defender Larry Inlow made the first push with an unassisted three pointer (with a six attacker on-field) during a restart to bring the Wings within three. The sixth attacker remained on field for the final three minutes of play; however the last push was not enough. As the seconds wound down, the Wings felt the realization of another tough fought loss to the Wave.

1/26 Wings vs. Wave Game Preview

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will play host to the Milwaukee Wave on Thursday, January 26^th in the two team’s third straight matchup in two weeks. Kick-off is scheduled to start at 7:05pm (CT) at Hartman Arena.

Wichita and Milwaukee are no strangers to one another having already played each other five times this season, with a home-and-home series still remaining. Milwaukee leads the series 4-1, four of which games have been played within one goal. Wichita must take a win from Milwaukee to keep them in the chase to catch the Missouri Comets for the last playoff spot in the Central Division.

The Wichita Wings played host to the Milwaukee Wave in a weekend double-header last weekend with both teams walking away with a win. Friday night’s game was a battle of will and resilience as both teams fought to see who could outlast the other. Down 16-9 midway through the third quarter, the Wings went to work with uncontested goals from Victor Quiroz (2), Jamar Beasley, and Kevin Ten Eyck. The Ten Eyck goal, a three pointer scored with two minutes remaining in the fourth, sealed the win for the Wings with a final score of 18-16.

Saturday night’s second round matchup shaped up much differently. A tactical defensively game, both teams lacked a certain energy, likely due to the game played the night before. Unlike Friday night, the score stayed relatively low throughout the game. Down 9-6 with four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Wichita pulled their Goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho for a sixth attacker, but ultimately could not find the back of the net. Milwaukee walked away with the win leaving Wichita even hungrier for their second win over the Wave.

Key Matchup: Jamar Beasley vs Greg Howes

Beasley lead the Wings with 7 points in the weekend doubleheader and continues to be the Wings leading point getter with 47. Greg Howes recorded 9 points over the weekend and is currently second in the points standing for the Wave with 36. Each will play a crucial part of every offensive possession as both look to lead their respective team to victory.

Player to Watch: Alargie Jobe

Jobe has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury, but has hit the practice field running and looking to return to goal scoring form. Jobe is currently seventh on the Wings points list, but with an injury to Freddy Moojen, Jobe must step in and put forth a great scoring output.

Wings Fall Short In Second Wave Matchup

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) lost a tough fought battle to the Milwaukee Wave tonight in the second game of a weekend double-header. Unlike last night’s high scoring thriller, tonight’s game was a hard fought defensive battle with both teams struggling to find the back of the net.

The first goal of the game did not come until the 11:25 mark of the first quarter with a goal from Milwaukee Forward Greg Howes (assisted by Marcio Leite). The Howes goal was followed by an unassisted two pointer from Wave Midfielder Giuliano Oliveiro with just under two minutes left to play in the quarter giving Milwaukee a 4-0 lead.

The second quarter was scoreless as both teams made defensive stand after defensive stand against each other. Going into the half, Milwaukee still lead 4-0.

The third quarter appeared to be headed towards another Milwaukee shutout of the Wings until Wichita Midfielder Bryan Perez struck gold with an assisted Victor Quiroz two point goal at the 8:13 mark. Milwaukee responded quickly with a Joe Hammes three pointer (assisted by Ian Bennet) to give the Wave a 7-2 lead. Once again, defensive stop after defensive stop kept Wichita out of the net until Wings Forward Jamar Beasley finally found a goal with an assisted Bryan Perez two pointer to end the third quarter. Going into the fourth, Milwaukee lead Wichita 7-4.

Just 11 seconds into the fourth quarter, Wings Midfielder Edvin Worley scored a crucial goal against Wave Goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra on a Wichita power play to put the Wings down by only one. However, Milwaukee responded quickly as Greg Howes scored his second Marcio Leite assisted goal of the evening to put the Wave further out of reach with a score of 9-6.

Time continued to roll off the game clock as Wichita made attempt after attempt to tie Milwaukee and send the game into overtime. With just under three minutes to play, Wichita put in Victor Quiroz as their sixth man attacker, but as time ran down to zero, the Wings failed to capitalize and fell short. Milwaukee walked away with the win in a final score of 9-6, splitting the two game weekend double-header with Wichita.

The Wings return to action next Thursday night when they take on the Milwaukee in the two team’s final meeting at Hartman Arena this regular season. WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) won a big game against the Milwaukee Wave in heart pounding fashion. Down 16-9 in the third quarter, the Wings came storming back for a win with a final score of 18-16.

The game started off with strong play from Milwaukee in the first quarter. Unanswered goals came from Wave Forward Greg Howes (unassisted) and Tom Oatley (unassisted) before Wings Forward Jamar Beasley answered 10:33 into the first with a Victor Quiroz assisted goal. Wave Defender Jonathan Greenfield responded just minutes later to put Milwaukee up 6-2 over Wichita to end the first quarter.

The second quarter quickly turned into a goal fest, opened up by Wave’s Midfielder Ian Bennett (assisted short-handed by Jonathan Greenfield). Wichita answered with back to back goals by Bryan Perez (assisted by Alex Moseley) and Freddy Moojen to put the Wings down only two points with a score of 8-6. However, the Wichita drive didn’t last long. Just 39 seconds after the Freddy Moojen Goal, Wave Defender Joe Hammes scored an unassisted goal past Wings Goalkeeper Sanaldo. The Hammes goal was followed by another Greg Howes goal to put the Wave up 12-6. At just the moment the game appeared to be getting away from the Wichita, Wings Midfielder Victor scored a critical three pointer off a penalty kick to put the Wings down by only three going into halftime.

Momentum of the game continued to shift in the third quarter. Milwaukee scored two more unanswered goals by JP Rodrigues and Ian Bennett (both unassisted) to give Milwaukee another commanding lead (16-9). But Wichita, in classic Wings fashion, came storming back refusing to quite. Victor Quiroz scored with 2:16 left in the quarter (assisted by Bryan Perez) followed by another Jamar Beasley goal, his second of the evening (assisted by Alex Moseley). The Quiroz/Beasley goal put the Wings down by three going into the fourth, 16-13.

Both teams fought hard in the in the fourth quarter to hold a lead and take the win. With over 4 minutes to play, Wings Midfielder Victor Quiroz scored an impressive goal, his third of the evening- giving him a hat trick, to put the Wings down by only one. When it appeared that Milwaukee would take the win, Wings rookie Midfielder, Kevin Ten Eyck, scored a big time goal to put the Wings up 18-16.

A few last ditch efforts in the final two minutes by the Wave gave Wichita fans an incredible ride, but ultimately Wichita walked away with the win.

The Kevin Ten Eyck goal was his second game winning goal in a row, putting the Wings on a two game win streak against Central Division opponents.

Post game, Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon spoke briefly about the win. “I couldn’t be more proud of our men tonight; to make a nine point un-answered run for the win shows extreme resilience. We’ll take the win tonight and get ready for another battle tomorrow night.”

The Wings return to action tomorrow night when they take on the Milwaukee in the second of a weekend double header.
